Blue Water Baltimore – Stream Clean Up and Opportunities to Improve Local Waterways

As the crocuses and daffodils are blooming across Mount Washington … and now the tulips (sorry folks, I meant to post this a couple of weeks ago, before spring break briefly took my mind away from Mount Washington), it feels like spring is coming early this year. I have been daydreaming about planning my vegetable gardens for this spring and summer, as perhaps have some of you. In that spirit, I would like to invite my Mt. Washington neighbors to learn more about an organization came into being last year. Blue Water Baltimore is a local environmental organization launched in 2011. The group is the result of a merger of 5 watershed groups: Herring Run, Jones Falls, Gwynns Falls, and Baltimore Harbor Watershed Associations and the Baltimore Harbor WATERKEEPER. Blue Water Baltimore is a local nonprofit dedicated to restoring and protecting our local waterways for the benefit of local communities and the health of the Chesapeake Bay.  In addition to doing good work trying to protect the waterways throughout the city, this organization provides opportunities for Mt. Washington residents to help them, and in turn, provides services that Mt. Washington can take advantage of to try to improve our own impact on the area waterways. Read the full story »
